How to care for heat-resistant ponytails?

To keep your heat-resistant ponytail looking beautiful for longer, take proper care of it. Here are the most important rules:

  1. Combing

Straight ponytails are combed only with a brush intended for synthetic hair, ideally one with natural boar bristles.

Avoid plastic combs – they can damage the structure of the hair.

Curly ponytails are detangled only when wet and soaked in conditioner – starting from the tips upwards.

  1. Styling curls

Separate curls gently with your fingers, ideally after spraying with leave-in spray conditioner or lightly dampening with water.

Cut any tangles that form horizontally with scissors – never yank them!

  1. Washing – rarely

Heat-resistant synthetic hair does not need frequent washing – the less often, the better.

Before washing, a straight ponytail should be combed, a curly ponytail only gently separated with your fingers.

  1. How to wash?

Add shampoo to lukewarm or cool water and immerse the ponytail.

Do not scrub or knead – treat it like a delicate fabric. Leave it to soak for a few minutes.

  1. Conditioning

In fresh water (also lukewarm) add conditioner and a few drops of fabric softener or liquid paraffin (available at pharmacies).

Immerse the ponytail for a few minutes – the hair will become soft and easy to style.

  1. Drying off

Press the ponytail in a towel without wringing it.

You can apply a little hair oil to the ends.

  1. Drying

A straight ponytail can be dried with the cold air setting of a hairdryer.

Leave a curly ponytail to dry naturally, separating the damp strands with your fingers.

  1. Heat styling

Heat-resistant hair can be straightened and curled, but only up to 180°C.

A straight ponytail is straightened with flat irons, and a curly ponytail can also be styled with a curling iron.

  1. Colouring

Allowed: toners, colour rinses, colouring masks, purple shampoos.

Forbidden: permanent dyes – they can damage the hair fibres.

  1. Special styling

A heat-resistant ponytail is not just a classic hair clip-on – you can successfully create updos, buns and evening hairstyles with it too. Perfect for a wedding, a reception or other occasions.
